A message from Hands of Love Trustee and Administrator Sally Walker:
There is an unusual patter of little feet in the Walker household. Our Hermanns tortoises normally lay their eggs in April and May and the babies hatch out in June/July in time for the warm summer weather. This winter has been so warm that one tortoise laid a very late clutch in November and so far we have three little winter babies. All tortoises are re-homed (in pairs) under Defra licence and in 2011 they raised £730 for Hands of Love UK.
If you are interested in homing young tortoises, the 2011 hatchlings will be ready from the end of February for a suggested minimum donation of £50 per animal.
This is a pet for life – please consider the long term implications of tortoise ownership.
